THE CHALLENGE

Odlum Brown was seeking assistance with developing a new content management system that would integrate their public website, secure client extranet and company intranet. They would require integration of existing vendor application software, a graphic design refresh, a usability audit, documentation, training and warranty.

THE SOLUTION

The firm sought a reliable partner for the upgrade project that would use well-represented, standard technology solutions with strong security features and an open architecture that would allow for future enhancements and changes to integrated back-end applications.

After proposal reviews, Softlanding was chosen to handle the intranet component of the project, which would involve implementing a user and content-friendly SharePoint 2010 based intranet. This solution would simplify Odlum Brown's content publishing process and enable reports and news to be published on their new client portal.

IMPLEMENTATION

During the planning phase, Softlanding conducted a series of interviews and brainstorming sessions with Odlum Brown's business and IT stakeholders to gather detailed infrastructure requirements and create a comprehensive solution design document.

Having identified existing issues, a new information architecture was designed to optimize site structure and content organization. For consistency across all Odlum Brown web properties, Softlanding developed custom SharePoint 2010 branding to align with the new intranet and extranet site designs.

Finally, Softlanding provided customized author and site owner training to ensure employees were thoroughly educated before the new intranet was deployed, tested and populated with content.

THE BENEFITS

Odlum Brown enjoyed many benefits of their new integrated content management system including enhanced internal communications, increased efficiency and productivity, a standardized publishing process and a user-friendly system for content contribution and collaboration. The consolidated source of internal information not only helped employees work more efficiently together, but also equipped them to provide a higher level of service for Odlum Brown clients moving forward.
