Softlanding is hosting a one-day workshop to provide the best-practices and necessary knowledge of security and business continuity in the context of Microsoft Azure.
Cloud Best Practices
During this hands-on session you'll get a chance to test drive the Microsoft Azure platform and its specific capabilities in providing a secure, reliable and cost effective solution for data storage and Business Continuity and Disaster Recover (BCDR) requirements. Our Senior Technical Specialist led session is customized to meet your needs so you can fully explore Microsoft Azure, focus on the products and solutions that you want, and discover first-hand how to put security and disaster recovery at the forefront of your design. We will cover:
Azure Site Recovery and Backup
Azure Active Directory
Azure Information Protection
Cloud App Security
Advanced Threat Protection
How to leverage Microsoft funding for your Azure implementation
Module 1: Introduction to Microsoft Azure Security:
This module introduces the Security technologies available on Microsoft Azure including best-practices to improve your "Security Score".
Network Security - you will learn how to use Network Security Group to create rules (ACLs) to control access by permitting or denying communication between the workloads. And it describes multiple examples of building security boundaries with Azure virtual networks.
Identity and Access - you will learn of the Mobility and Cloud security threats, and the mitigation steps and security controls available in Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Describe Authentication mechanism, Self-service password reset, Password write-back, and other Cloud security functionalities
Encryption and Data Protection - This includes encrypting data while at rest, in motion or in use, authenticating only authorized users against the database or application, and limiting user access to the appropriate subset of the data.
Threat Management - We will explain how to perform an effective and automated Virtual Machine hardening and patch management.
Azure Web Security - How to get started on securing your web app, mobile app backend, or API app in Azure App Service.
Azure Monitoring, Logging and Reporting - How to provide continuous monitoring and auditing of activities to help in the detection of potential threats and provide a record of critical events in case of a breach. These layers of protection are summarized across three areas: Protect Data, Control Access and Monitor Activity
Module 2: Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
This module will uncover Microsoft's Azure Site Recovery and Backup solution with use-case scenarios to understand the full benefits of disaster recovery in the cloud
Does ASR solve your Disaster Recovery Plan - What are your Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) requirements? Are you able to do self-service restores or test disaster recovery on a frequent basis? How much can be saved by moving away from expensive and depreciating hardware costs?
Prioritizing workloads for failovers- What are best-practices for workloads placed in the Azure cloud? How will this benefit your business?
Azure Site Recovery configuration and costs - you will learn of the process of configuration and the cost savings over-time by moving away from legacy tape technology
Live Demonstration of a failover in ASR - Our Senior Technical specialist will failover a VM and show you the simple steps of how to recover in less than 15 minutes.
