Azure Site Recovery in Canada

The Microsoft Cloud takes another leap forward in announcing Azure Site Recovery's general availability within both the Canada Central and Canada East data centres.

As a simple, automated protection and disaster recovery plan in the Cloud, Azure Site Recovery has been a resounding hit with our clients trying to avoid the following challenges:

Unpredictable growth of data - business estimates are rarely correct
Expensive and depreciating hardware costs through traditional tape technology or secondary back-up locations
Inability to do self-service restores or test disaster recovery on a frequent basis
Foreshadowing costs of the damages from down-time, especially to tapes susceptible to natural disaster
Avoidance of the US Patriot Act in storing company data and applications in a public data centre
BC's PIPEDA and Privacy Act laws that govern the storage of data for public sector organizations such as education, healthcare and government

With full support for any combination of Hyper-V, VMWare & Physical Servers with both Microsoft and Linux operating systems many clients ask how the costs compare with building a traditional secondary data center.

What is Azure Site Recovery?

Azure Site Recovery is a cloud service that can be licensed on a per-virtual machine (VM) or per-physical instance basis. It enables the replication and orchestration of failover processes between a company's own physical sites to Azure services. Azure Site Recovery provides several "channels" that give organizations the ability to enable disaster recovery orchestration and replication regardless of their infrastructure.

Microsoft Cloud Compliance

The Microsoft Cloud is a global leader in compliance, with the broadest portfolio of certifications in the industry. Azure, Office 365, and Dynamics CRM Online have received ISO 27001 certification and are audited under the SSAE 16/ISAE 3402 SOC 1 and SOC 2 standards. In addition, Microsoft was the first cloud service provider to adopt the uniform international code of practice for cloud privacy and data protection, ISO/IEC 27018, which provides guidelines for protection of personally identifiable information.
